dengan cara membandingkan profil (pola) dari marka genetik DNA.\u00a0Jumlah marka yang digunakan bervariasi, namun saat ini banyak digunakan hingga 27 akan mendapatkan setengah pasang DNA dari ayah biologisnya dan setengah pasang lagi dari ibu biologisnya.
